Two Toddlers Die In Separate Pool Incidents During 4th Weekend In Florida

A 4-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a swimming pool during a July 4th holiday party at her family's Jacksonville home.

Jacksonville Sheriff's officials say party goers tried to resuscitate Kierra Williams at the scene on Sunday evening, but she was declared dead at a hospital a short time later.

Officials say a large house party was going on when the girl drowned.

Sheriff's officials are investigating, but say foul play isn't suspected.

A second toddler also drowned in a backyard pool in Lauderhill over the weekend.

Lauderhill police spokesman Lt. Michael Santiago says police received a "lifeless" child report on Friday.

Authorities found a 2-year-old boy unresponsive.

He says a family member pulled the child from the water and the first officer on the scene performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The child was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Santiago says there was no party or event taking place, but family members, friends and workers were present at the home.
