City leaders in North Miami are defending their decision to fire their police chief.
During a meeting Wednesday night, city leaders played audio recordings of what they said was evidence Chief Gary Eugene lied when being interviewed about his handling of the Charles Kinsey shooting.
Kinsey is the behavior therapist who was shot by an officer while laying on the ground with his hands up, unarmed in July, 2016. He was attempting to retrieve his autistic patient, Jonathan Aledda, who had wandered off from a nearby group home. Kinsey was transported to the hospital, but survived the shooting.
Eugene says he's considering legal action against the city.
