Nearly 40,000 people will be in Wilton Manors this weekend for the Stonewall Parade and Festival.
Over 100 vendors, 23 restaurants, 16 bars and four stages will line a portion of Wilton Drive Saturday.
The Stonewall Festival commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots marking the start of modern gay-right movements.
Organizer, Jeff Sterling says the new administration's actions are prompting activists to keep fighting. "Things that we've taken for granted the last eight years that we've accomplished all seems to be threatened by a new attitude in the administration towards minority rights," said Sterling.
He says activist groups have been participating in pride events around the country to encourage younger generations to get involved in local LGBT rights organizations.
The Stonewall Festival starts at 3 p.m. and the highly anticipated parade at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
