Popular convenience store and gas station chain Wawa already has three locations in Palm Beach County and plans to open two more this week.
The family owned chain is holding grand opening events Thursday at Lake Worth Road and Jog Road in Greenacres as well as Belvedere Road and Australian Avenue right outside of Palm Beach International Airport.
The three other Wawas in Palm Beach County are in Palm Springs and Riviera Beach, with additional locations along the Treasure Coast. Plans are underway for more stores in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, with openings in Davie, Parkland and Pompano Beach set for this summer.
Wawa has given away prizes to the earliest customers at previous grand opening events. The chain, known for its fresh food offerings, made to order sandwiches and expansive selection of hot and cold drinks is based in Pennsylvania and is named after the town of Wawa.
They first moved into Florida in 2012 when a store opened in Orlando and have since expanded along the I-4 corridor. Stores in Florida also feature wine and cold beer sales.
