A pilot was seriously injured Sunday when his small plane crashed into an SUV parked outside of a Polk County church.
The plane went down during Sunday morning services of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 3397 Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road in Bartow.
When those inside heard a loud boom, members rushed out to help the pilot who was trapped in the wreckage.
The pilot was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health.
Several parishioners cars were damaged in the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
