Wear Orange Day

People nationwide are wearing orange to raise awareness of a national tragedy. The idea came about after 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, was gunned down in Chicago, just days after performing at President Obama's second inauguration. Gun violence claims the lives of 90 people a day across the country. Gabrielle Lowenstein of Moms Demand Action explains that since orange is the color hunters wear to avoid being shot, people are wearing orange to symbolize the value of human life. Events are taking place today at the Botanical Gardens in Miami Beach. That event gets underway at 10am.  And, in Broward County, Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale will turn orange with live music, field games, crafts, face painting, and more.
