Two people are dead and a third critically hurt Thursday morning after an ambulance was involved in a rollover crash, trapping its passengers inside, in Jupiter.
The crash took place at about 3 a.m. near Indiantown Road and Military Trail, about a mile northwest of Jupiter Medical Center.
Witnesses say a car tried to make a U-turn in front of the emergency vehicle, causing the crash. Two ambulance workers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured person was taken to a trauma center from the accident. That individual's identity and current condition are unknown.
Jupiter police are currently investigating.
Traffic was delayed in the area for hours after the fatal wreck. By 6:30 a.m. the ambulance had been loaded onto a tow truck and by 7:15 the lanes had reopened.
