A Deerfield Beach woman is in jail after she left her two children alone in her car while she drank at a Margate bar last week.
Police say 30-year-old Crystal Chavez faces a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm.
According to an arrest report, Chavez was at Jesse's Xtreme Sports Bar at 5442 W Atlantic Blvd last Wednesday while her children, ages 10 and 5, were left in the car with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off.
Police say the children were left alone in the vehicle for at least 30 minutes.
A bar tender provided police with Chavez's bar tab, showing that she had an alcoholic shot.
The children were placed in the care of Chavez's friend, and Chavez was taken to jail.
