Miami Beach Commissioner Vows To Curb Memorial Day Partying

More violence erupted on Miami Beach on Memorial Day, hours following a parking dispute that turned deadly over the weekend.

A man was stabbed along Sixth Street with a broken bottle around 3:30pm Monday. He was transported to Ryder Trauma Center but is said to be in stable condition. One suspect was detained while an alert is out for a possible second suspect.

Commissioner Michael Grieco is among the city officials calling for an end to late night partying on the Beach during Memorial Day weekend and was very critical of the parties and problems that have come along with Urban Beach Week.

"There is a commitment to never allow this to happen again," Grieco said at a news conference where Miami Beach Police gave an update on the shooting. "This is not a black or white issue. This is a right or wrong issue."

Grieco promised to write legislation that would limit the late night activities around Miami Beach during Memorial Day Weekend, which this year saw the addition of an air and sea show and Military Salute to honor the nation's military personnel, veterans and those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
