Universal Orlando Opens New "Volcano Bay" Waterpark

Disney World now has competition in the water park department.

Universal Orlando's Volcano Bay officially opens to the public Thursday. You can watch a previously live-streamed video of the park's grand opening, here:

Even NBC's Today Show front-man Al Roker braved the Ko'okiri Body Plunge -- a 70-degree fall through a drop door and 125 feet of dizzying decent through the towering volcano.

The 30-acre park includes 18 attractions such as an aqua coaster, twisting multi-rider raft rides and body slides that drop those who dare down the park's iconic 200-foot volcano.

Universal is also unveiling a first of its kind wristband, the "Tapu Tapu" which allows people to virtually wait in lines, order food, pay for amenities and more.

The new Volcano Bay water park is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For Florida residents, a single-day ticket starts at $110 to visit a single park, or $165 to hop from park to park. For more information, visit Universal's website
