South Florida Teens To Hold Peace Rally to Stop Youth Violence

A group of Miami-Dade students are holding a Peace Rally to help other teens affected by youth violence.  The Children's Trust Youth Advisory Committee holding a Peace Rally Saturday, May 20th.

Alejandra Gomez, President of the Youth Advisory Committee, says it's a step toward ending teen violence in Miami-Dade.

"There's been recent innocent deaths within the past year in Miami-Dade county and the number of juveniles that are in the state system has increased for Miami-Dade county," said Gomez.

She says they found many teens turn to violence for lack of things to do and the Peace Rally will connect them to resources and youth groups.

The free, public event for teens and parents runs from 10 to 1 p.m. at History Miami, 101 W. Flagler Street, Miami, 33130.
