Mosquito spraying happening Tuesday evening in parts of Miami-Dade County.
The pesticide Dibrom will be used for mosquito control over Homestead, Florida City, the Redlands and areas east of US-1.
Miami-Dade County Solid Waste Management spokesperson, Gayle Love, says the spraying's not for Zika-related pests, it's for black salt marsh mosquitoes (Aedes taeniorhynchus).
"It's different from the Aedes Aegypti, which is the mosquito we typically sprayed for last summer during our Zika response. This [black salt marsh] is more of an aggressive biting mosquito and it's not really known to be a vector of transmission of mosquito-borne illnesses, it's just a real aggravating mosquito," said Love.
Weather permitting the spraying will start Tuesday at sunset. Those with allergies are advised to stay indoors. Beekeepers are asked to keep their bees covered during the spraying operations in their particular area.
