Town Hall on Opioid Epidemic at Booker T. Washington High School Thursday

South Florida leaders taking steps to stop the opioid crisis.

A town hall at Booker T. Washington High School Thursday afternoon talking about the opioid and heroin epidemic.  Acting U-S Attorney Ben Greenberg says stopping the crisis starts with raising awareness.

"The problem is that the epidemic really affects everyone.  It doesn't discriminate who gets affected by it and one of the things we hope we can do is reach out to the community at large to show people how dangerous these drugs can be," said Greenberg.

He says the panelists will also discuss prevention and treatment.

The Heroin and Opioid Awareness Town Hall is at Booker T. Washington High School located at 1200 NW 6th Avenue in Miami, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m on Thursday May 11, 2017.
