Man Found in Bloody Clothes Allegedly Lived Months With Murdered Wife's Body in Home

A Fort Lauderdale man is in jail, accused of stabbing his wife to death and then leaving her body to rot for weeks in their home.

Authorities say 65-year-old Jeffrey Thacker lived in the home while his wife's body rotted on the floor.

Police conducted a welfare check last week at the home off North Federal Highway and NE 14th Court. Thacker was allegedly wearing bloody clothes when he was found by officers.

According to a report by CBS News, he told officers, "I killed her. I stabbed her with a pair of scissors."

Police say that the murder happened in early February. They found the victim, Jaden Kincade, in an advanced state of decomposition on the floor.

Police also found a dead dog in the home, starved to death in a locked bedroom.

Thacker told police he had been stabbed by the victim.

He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

He has yet to make a first appearance in court.
