Walt Disney World To Test Driver-Less Tourist Transportation

Walt Disney World is planning to test the use of driver-less shuttles, to carry passengers through parking lots and around theme parks.

The Los Angeles Times says Disney will begin testing later this year with park employees. The pilot program will transport employees via electric-drive robot vehicles.

If all goes well, it will then begin carrying park visitors next year.

The Times also says that the program may only be launched in Florida. While Florida puts few restrictions on driver-less vehicle deployment, California (the home to Disney Land) is overhauling regulations that have been criticized by industry as unnecessarily heavy handed.
