Bal Harbour Shops Expansion Could Be Closer to a Decision

A decision on whether or not the Bal Harbour Shops will be allowed to expand could be a step closer Tuesday night.

The Bal Harbour Village Council will have their first hearing on the proposed expansion.  Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman says it's a divisive topic.

"There's people that want the expansion, there's people that don't want the expansion.  I think at the [city council] workshop there were definitely more people there that were in favor of the expansion than were against it, but we weren't polling, we were just there to get people's opinions and input," said Mayor Groisman.

Residents were able to comment and learn more about the proposal at a council workshop on April 4th.

The mayor says they'll vote on the hearing at Tuesday night's Village Council Meeting and if approved it will move to the second hearing May 16th.  He says the measure must pass at least two hearings to be approved.
