Martin County Man Faces Hate Crime Charges For Attacking Man He "Thought Was Arab"

A Martin County man is in jail for attacking a man he mistakenly thought was "Arab."

Deputies say Jeremiah Hendrix is charged with a hate crime for stabbing the owner of a Family Discount Dollar store on Dixie Highway.

Initially, deputies say Hendrix was upset about taxes he was charged. He left the store and then came back with a knife on Wednesday, allegedly saying he didn't like "Arabs."

The victim says he is not an Arab or Muslim but Catholic, and an American citizen.
