New Bill Could Pull Florida Recipients From Welfare Assistance Programs

(Tallahassee, FL)  --  Florida welfare recipients, and some who get food stamps, could be pulled from those programs under the rules of a bill being proposed in Tallahassee.

The Florida House voted Wednesday to require certain work requirements to continue getting assistance.

Supporters say the tougher penalties would help people find jobs, discourage reliance on government and would reduce fraud.

Those against the bill call it an attack on the poor.
