Florida House Approves Changes To "No Fault" Auto Insurance System

State lawmakers are taking a close look at the state's longstanding "no fault" auto insurance system.

The House has approved a proposal to repeal the system, and the Senate is considering it. The proposed bill would eliminate a requirement for drivers to have personal-injury protection and they would instead have to have bodily injury coverage.

Those for the change say it would reduce auto insurance rates, while those against it say the changes would shift the cost of covering auto accident injuries to health-insurance companies.
