Marlins, Mets Battle It Out For 16 Innings on the Diamond

The Miami Marlins and New York Mets battled it out in a marathon, 16-inning affair that ended with the Mets on top nine to eight Thursday evening. Marking the longest-running Miami Marlins game since 2003 (a 20-inning game against the St. Louis Cardinals), the fish took to Twitter to "poke fun" at the seemingly all-night event.

The teams combined for 15 runs in the first five innings, but the bullpens dominated after that.

Marcel Ozuna had a Grand Slam in the first inning for the Marlins.

The (presumably very tired) Marlins and New York Mets play again Friday night, with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.

Catch the game on our sister station 940 WINZ, with coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m.
