Throughout the first 10 days of the SFWMD Pilot Python Elimination Program, in which python hunters are being compensated to control the population, eight hunters have killed a total of 10 invasive Burmese pythons on District lands.
The snakes measured nearly 100 feet and 400 lbs combined (!!!!), paying out nearly $2,000 to the hunters. The program is set to run the course of two months.
