Jeweler Locks Would-Be Robber in Vault, Foils $6.7M Heist

A Florida jeweler foiled a heist by locking a woman in a vault.

Police say the would-be robbery, claiming to represent a jewelry buyer, played out on March 18 at ECJ Luxe Collection in Boca Raton.

Reports say 46-year-old Fatima Milanovic faces charges of grand theft and organized fraud.

Vladislav "Bobby'' Yampolsky told police he sensed something wrong when Milanovic tried to buy 11 stones worth $6.7 million. He says she wasn't carrying any tools to inspect the jewels and insisted on wrapping the items in packing material she brought to the store.

He called 911 while holding the woman in a jewelry vault.

Police said Milanovic, who has a French passport, was released on $50,000 bond.
