Gillum Hosts Affordable Care Roundtable in Doral

As a boy, Andrew Gillum remembers his family and others needing assistance through various programs while growing up in Miami and then Gainesville.

Back in South Florida on Friday, the Mayor of Tallahassee who has already thrown his hat into the Governor's race for 2018, Gillum discussed the Affordable Care Act with some of the healthcare workers and advocates who have been working to get people enrolled on Obamacare exchange plans. 

The Sunshine State leads the nation in the number of people who are signed up for exchange health plans and the vast majority utilize government subsidies to cover the high premium costs. While Obamacare survived a recent attempt by Republicans to repeal and replace the healthcare system overhaul, there has been a drop-off in the number of new enrollees because of the uncertainty of the law's future.

Gillum discussed possible changes to Medicaid and other issues facing healthcare workers and coverage advocates in Doral on Friday. Click the video below to see some of his roundtable conversation with representatives from the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida...

The President may say he is done negotiating the Obamacare replacement bill but he is definitely not done talking and tweeting about it which means the battle over healthcare on Capitol Hill may not be over just yet.

Still frustrated by the failure to pass the Obamacare Replacement plan, the President takes to Twitter to call out the Freedom Caucus which includes Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan who tells Fox News that the conservatives won't back away from their promise to voters.

So for now Obamacare lives on with Republicans maintaining the current system will implode under its own weight this year... one of the Democrats hoping to become Florida Governor, Andrew Gillum, will hold an Affordable Care Act roundtable in Doral later today.
