Dolphins Add Suspended Safety to Roster

(Davie, FL)  AP -- The Miami Dolphins are adding free-agent safety T.J. McDonald to their roster.

The Fins have signed the 26-year-old to a one-year veteran minimum contract despite a suspension that will cause him to miss the first eight games of the season.

McDonald has started 53 games for the Rams over the last four years.  He was suspended by the NFL on Wednesday for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. McDonald was arrested last May after crashing into a parked car.  He was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs.
