Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Alligator Alley

A small plane made an emergency landing in western Broward Wednesday afternoon.

The aircraft landed on Alligator Alley along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 75, a few miles west of U.S. highway 27 at mile marker 33, Federal Aviation Admin. (FAA) officials say.

Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Gregory Bueno announced on Twitter that neither the two pilots, nor anyone in the area was injured due to the sudden grounding. There was also no damage to the plane.

The pilots told rescue crews they experienced engine failure.

Bueno also took to Twitter to report that all lanes of Alligator Alley remained open following the emergency landing.

The aircraft is believed to be local, either departing from Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County or North Perry Airport, in Pembroke Pines.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
