Toxic Sites In South Florida

Eleven of the worst toxic waste sites are actually here in South Florida. The EPA calls them "Superfund" sites. There are reportedly over 1,300 such sites in the United States. The EPA says there are 5 Superfund sites in Broward County. Six in Miami-Dade. Emily Leary who cowrote a stufy on Superfund sites at the University Of Florida believes cancer causing toxic chemicals are being spread through Florida's surface water. That study shows that people living in counties with "Superfund" sites have a 6 percent greater chance of being diagnosed with cancer.  For more, click here, here, and here
