STUDY: Florida Ranks 17 for Best States to Retire

Florida's sunshine and beaches may not be enough to attract retirees.

Bankrate.com's new study ranks Florida at 17 when it comes to best states to retire.  The report found cost of living, health care quality and crime rates were important factors Americans consider when choosing where to retire.

Claes Bell with Bankrate says our state has a couple of downsides.

"The high crime rate relative to other states is going to be an issue for seniors.  Cost of living, especially in areas like South Florida, which is very high relative to other parts of the country.  The healthcare quality is not good as some of the states which placed in the top 10," said Bell.

New Hampshire took the top spot, followed by Colorado and Maine.
