No Bond For Miami-Dade Cop Shooter

A judge today denied bond for 19-year-old Damian Thompson. The accused shooter of two Miami-Dade Police Department undercover officers appeared at the Gerstein Building Courthouse with his faced still bruised after resisting arrest for the crimes committed Monday night.

The alleged perpetrator of a shooting that left two Miami-Dade police officers injured is due in court today.

 The Miami-Dade Police Department arrested 19-year-old Damian Thompson yesterday for allegedly shooting at two undercover cops Monday night at the Annie Coleman Miami-Dade housing projects in Liberty City.  

The teen was previously arrested by one of the injured cops.  

He's booked at the Miami-Dade County jail on charges that include first-degree attempted murder, battery on a police officer and resisting an officer with violence.

Miami-Dade Police also arrested three additional subjects in connection to the shooting investigation, but none were charged with attempted first-degree murder. Police arrested 25-year-old Jamal Daniels, 22-year-old Jessica Pierre and 22-year-old Mikequesha Simmons.

A 19-year-old Miami man is charged with two counts of attempted murder after police say he opened fire in an "ambush-style" shooting on two plainclothes detectives who were investigating gang activity.

Miami-Dade police announced an arrest on Twitter Wednesday morning but provide no details. A tip led officers to Damian "Damo" Thompson. 

The Miami Herald reports one of the officers identified Thompson as the shooter.

UPDATE: 3-29-17 6:00 a.m.

Miami-Dade Police detain and question several people in connection with Monday night's police-involved shooting in northwest Miami-Dade.

Those officers were shot in an ambush-style attack, one is now recovering at home from the hospital, but fortunately, both are expected to be OK.

One of the undercover homicide officers was struck in the leg during a gang investigation at an apartment complex last night. The other was shot in the arm.

The manhunt continues for the shooter(s).

UPDATE: 3-28-17 12:40 p.m.

Authorities say they now have two people detained in connection with this morning's shooting. Two people were detained Tuesday morning at the Hyatt Place on LeJeune Road, near Miami International Airport.

According to a report by Local 10 News, police said they received an anonymous tip that led them to the third floor of the hotel. It isn't clear what involvement the men had in the police-involved shooting.

MIAMI (AP) — Two Miami-Dade County police officers have been wounded in what authorities called "an ambush-style" shooting.Authorities say the plainclothes officers were shot Monday night while investigating at the Annie Coleman Apartments on the city's north side. 

The officers were part of the Homicide Task Force-Gang Unit. Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez says fellow officers used a pickup truck to bring their wounded colleagues to the hospital. Perez says they are listed in stable condition and expected to survive. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.No suspects were arrested. Perez urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact authorities.
