Miami Artist Gets Star Treatment at Walk of Fame

The artist that designed the Bayside Marketplace Walk of Fame star is getting a star of his own.

Would renowned artist Romero Britto's official star was unveiled at the Walk of Fame in Miami Thursday. The artist was presented his award by Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, commissioners, and several other town officials. 

Britto was born in Brazil, but calls himself "Miami-made". He is a self-taught, international artist that uses vibrant, bold and colorful patterns in his work. Thirty years ago, Britto sold his first piece of artwork in Miami.

The artist's work can be found across the country as well as in Europe and Asia. 

Britto's star is located along the arts, culture, and entertainment corridor of Bayside Market. At his Walk of Fame induction ceremony, Britto expressed his gratitude and ensured that the star is for everyone. "I've visited cities around the world," he said. "But there's nowhere in the world like Miami and Miami Beach.

Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado also named Britto the Arts and Culture Ambassador of the City of Miami.

Britto's star joins the star of other Miami athletes, entertainers, and celebrities, including Jamie Foxx, Kevin James, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
