FWC: Marlins Ace Jose Fernandez Was Driving Boat

Miami Marlins ace pitcher Jose Fernandez was, in fact, behind the controls of his boat when it slammed into a Government Cut jetty off Miami Beach.

That's the bombshell Florida Fish and Wildlife dropped in its final 46-page report on the September accident that killed him and the two other people on the boat.

Investigators were able to determine that because his DNA was found on the throttle and steering wheel of the boat.  Plus, physical injuries to his body matched the boat's center console.

They have also determined the vessel was going at more than 65-miles-per-hour when it slammed into the rocks.

The report, which was just released this morning, also states, if Fernandez had lived, he'd likely have faced manslaughter charges.

The autopsy report showed Fernandez was drunk and had cocaine in his system at the time of the accident.
