WATCH: The Big Trump Tax Reveal the WaPo Calls a "Nothingburger"

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow is getting a ribbing for her build-up to revealing a portion of President Trump's tax information.  Maddow teased the release of leaked tax documents from 2005 ahead of her show last night, but gave an extended monologue for the first 20 minutes about their significance.

The White House even got ahead of the revelation by putting out a statement saying Trump paid 38-million-dollars in taxes on more than 150-million in income in 2005.  That allowed nearly every other news outlet to break the news before Maddow herself was able to get to it.

When she finally did, here is what David Cay Johnson turned up, which even the Washington Post referred to as a "nothingburger":

Maybe MSNBC should worry more about their own employees paying their taxes.

Twitter had fun with the long-winded lead up, with many wondering why she waited so long to get to the big news, which wound up looking much better for the President than it did for her network.

In what the White House calls her "desperate" attempt to expose the President, Maddow made a "yuge" deal about Trump paying what equates to 25% tax rate, which is more than the average of those in the top 0.1 percent of taxpayers, who had an average tax rate of 22.48 percent.

And for comparison: Mitt Romney's 2011 tax rate: 14.1%. Bernie Sanders' 2014 tax rate: 13%. President Obama's 2015 rate: 18.7%. MSNBC parent company Comcast pays an average of 24%.

Trump paid more than all of them.
