BREAKING: No Evidence of Wiretap, Intelligence Committee Says

(Washington, DC) -- The leaders of the House Intelligence Committee say they have seen no evidence that former President Barack Obama spied on President Trump via a wiretap during the most recent presidential campaign.

Committee chairman Republican Devin Nunes talked to the press today.

Trump ignited a firestorm when he tweeted on March 4th that former president Barack Obama spied on him during the election campaign.  Today California Democrat Adam Schiff and Nunes both said their committee has seen no evidence of any wiretapping operation against President Trump.

Nunes added that he believes you "have to be careful" with how literally you interpret Trump's tweets.  Schiff said the President needs to explain to the American people why he tweeted out the charge.

Nunes says his committee continues to investigate Russian hacking during the campaign and FBI Director James Comey will testify publicly on all aspects of the investigation next week.
