2 Major Projects to Begin on I-95 in Miami-Dade

5 emergency stopping sights will be added to 95 express north and south bound between NW 62nd st and NW  131st street.  The project is expected to take a year.  

 

Concrete pavement will be replaced on 95 north and south bound between NW 29th and NW 79th St.  This project is expected to take 3 years.

 

Spokesperson for the Florida Department of Transportation, Oscar Gonzalez says, “The projects will take place overnight and some weekends.  Weekend events like “Ultra Music Fest” will be taken into account and construction will be halted.”

 

The following closures will be implemented to shift all southbound travel lanes between NW 79 Street and NW 60 Street approximately five feet to the right:

Monday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 14 - All southbound 95 Express Lanes from the Golden Glades Interchange to State Road (SR) 112 will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

 

Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 - The southbound I-95 exit ramps to NW 69 Street and NW 62 Street will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Drivers can:

  • Exit at the NW 79 Street/NW 81 Street ramp, turn right on NW 81 Street
  • Turn left at NW 7 Avenue to connect with NW 69 and NW 62 Streets

 

Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 - Two general purpose southbound lanes will be closed between NW 79 Street and NW 60 Street between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., a third southbound lane will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

 

Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 – Three general purpose southbound lanes will be closed between NW 79 Street and NW 60 Street between the hours of 11 p.m. and 11 a.m.

Monday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 21 - All southbound 95 Express Lanes from the Golden Glades Interchange to State Road (SR) 112 will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Please note that this schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen conditions. The closures are part of the I-95 Design/Build Project to construct five emergency stopping sites on I-95 from NW 62 Street to NW 131 Street, and replace the concrete pavement from NW 29 Street to NW 79 Street.
