Anticipated Science Park Sets Opening Date in Boca

Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park has announced the official reopening of its Science Playground to be March 18.

The reopening is taking place more than a year after the play area was originally closed for renovations.

The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District said Monday the park will launch a soft opening at 9 a.m. March 18. The district also plans a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. March 25. The park announced this Tuesday on its Facebook page:

The Science Playground was originally set to open last summer. But the nearly $2 million project faced setbacks after a redesign to enhance handicap accessibility.

Visitors will be able to utilize the new jungle gym and race a lighted track that emulates the speeds of different animals.

The reopening will happen during the park's Spring Break festival. For a full list of events happening at Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park, click here
