Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park has announced the official reopening of its Science Playground to be March 18.
The reopening is taking place more than a year after the play area was originally closed for renovations.
The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District said Monday the park will launch a soft opening at 9 a.m. March 18. The district also plans a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. March 25. The park announced this Tuesday on its Facebook page:
The Science Playground was originally set to open last summer. But the nearly $2 million project faced setbacks after a redesign to enhance handicap accessibility.
Visitors will be able to utilize the new jungle gym and race a lighted track that emulates the speeds of different animals.
The reopening will happen during the park's Spring Break festival. For a full list of events happening at Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park, click here.
