Long-Awaited Frost Museum of Science Set to Open

Miami's new Frost Museum of Science announced that it will be opening its doors to the public in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park on Monday, May 8th.

After months of delays, this announcement means that the new establishment will open before summer.

An announcement ceremony was held Monday at the downtown Miami site. However, the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science announced the date Friday, with a video on their Facebook Page accompanied by this message:

It’s official! We’re opening our doors in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park on Monday, May 8th! From our state-of-the art Frost Planetarium featuring one of only thirteen 8K projectors in the world to our vast three-level Aquarium, Frost Science will be one of the most dynamic and sophisticated science museums around the globe.

The 250,000-square-foot facility will be divided into four buildings and include a planetarium, aquarium and science museum on one campus.

The facility was originally set to be opened in 2016, but was pushed back ultimately due to construction delays.

Philanthropists Phillip and Patricia Frost contributed to the effort after fundraising did not fully meet expectations.

Tickets are now on sale. Click here for more info.
