National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County recognizes National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS (NWPHA), March 5-12, 2017. The National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS is an annual HIV awareness campaign that mobilizes faith communities and highlights the contributions and impact that their congregations are making in areas of HIV prevention, testing, direct service, advocacy and community engagement.

During this week, faith-based organizations pause for a ‘moment of prayer for the healing of HIV/AIDS’ during their worship service where they will provide AIDS information to their communities.In commemoration of NWPHA, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County will collaborate with Churches United to recognize the 2017 annual faith-based events (please see the attached flyer for schedule of events).

This national campaign continues to call men and women of faith to prayer and to take aggressive action in dismantling AIDS stigma, to model unconditional love and compassion to all persons living with and affected by HIV, to disseminate factual HIV education and to engage communities in HIV testing and treatment services.
