Florida Students May Receive More Financial Aid

Florida college students may have the possibility to receive additional financial aid. The state has presented a new bill that would provide more money for college students.

Earlier today, a repair of the state's higher education system was approved by a Senate panel as a top priority. The proposal is now ready to be voted on by the complete Florida Senate.

The bill would require the state of Florida to cover 100 percent of the tuition for top-performing high school students who attend an in-state college or university.

The state used to pay the complete tuition for those students eligible for the top Bright Futures scholarship, but the awarded compensation was scaled back during the recent recession.

The full Senate has the possibility of voting on the proposal in March. The legislation would also expand other scholarships and create one specific to the children of farmworkers.
