A simple phone call, could save your life.
The City of Sunrise has a CodeRED emergency notification system. Battalion Chief Scott Manning says in order for the city to do their job, you need to do yours first.
"If we don't have the phone number, if it's a non-listed number or if somebody moves and gets a new number, we will not have the number and the emergency alert system will not hit that house," said Battalion Chief Manning.
He says some of the warnings issued are for a dangerous person in the area, hazardous materials released, hurricane warning information or for a missing person. The high-speed notification system sends emergency alerts to your land line or cell phone.
