Wedding Bells in South Florida as many are celebrating love by tying the knot. It's been busy at local court houses with many couples applying for their marriage licenses in time to get hitched on Valentine's Day.
Robert Roboso with the Miami-Dade Marriage License Bureau expects a packed house at all seven court houses across South Florida. "June weddings are famous all over the United States. The month of December is always good but the big day of the year, definitely without a doubt, is Valentine's Day when it falls into one of the weekdays." Roboso says the numbers keep going up. "Marriage has increased in the last couple of years due to same sex marriages which has turned the numbers up quite considerably, so we're looking forward to a lot of marriages. It's a very nice day, we're here from 9 a.m.-4 p.m."
The state requires all Florida residents to take a four hour premarital course or wait three days for the marriage license to be effective. Roboso says walk-ins with valid licenses are welcome. "We're going to have a great day, it's going to be good weather so people should come out. They don't have to have an appointment as long as they have a license. Once you're inside you're going to have your wedding performed by one of our deputy clerks."
