City Of Miami Commissioner Pushes To Improve Environment

The City of Miami Commission is making progress on policy initiatives that promote our environment.

Commissioner Ken Russell is taking the lead by proposing an ordinance to encourage alternate energy and says Thursday's City of Miami Commission meeting went well.

"We have now waived on second reading all permitting fees for residential installation of solar panels," said Commissioner Russell.

He's also taking steps to promote our trees.

"We have a pretty archaic tree ordinance in the City of Miami, but we've now got it passed on first reading to really improve enforcement on people cutting down trees illegally," said Commissioner Russell.

The commissioner is also pushing for the city manager to move forward with studying the use of solar roadways.
