WATCH LIVE: Final El Faro Hearing

Before making a final report about what went wrong with the ill-fated El Faro, the Coast Guard is holding its final hearing.

Marine Board of Investigation members are using their first day of the two week hearing to learn more about the conditions the El Faro's crew could have been dealing with as it pushed off from Jacksonville.

Former ship master Captain Raymond Thompson has faced questions about fatigue levels of crew members, their possible use of prescriptions and alcohol and the typical "bridge meetings" a captain hold on cargo contents and weather conditions.

The El Faro sank off the Bahamas after it sailed into Hurricane Joaquin.

All 33 people on board died.
