Hundreds Expected to Protest Against Miami-Dade Mayor

Hundreds in Miami-Dade are calling for change after Mayor Carlos Gimenez signs on to President Trump's mass deportation demands.  Debbie Mucarsel-Powell with the Miami Coalition says Tuesday's rally will send a strong message to the mayor.

"He needs to stand with us, not with President Trump.  He was elected in a county where more than 50% of it's residents are immigrants.  Hundreds of thousands of those are actually undocumented," said Mucarsel-Powell.

Gimenez was the first Mayor of a municipality know as a sanctuary city in the nation to support the President's action.

The peaceful protest starts at 5 p.m. at the Government Center Plaza located on the corner of NE 1st St. and NE 1st Ave.
