Hollywood, FL - A delivery driver's van was stolen during a delivery but thanks to a neighbor's quick actions, the vehicle was swiftly recovered.

According to Hollywood Police, the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Mayo Street and South 56th Avenue.

Maria Tosta had exited her work van to deliver a package and was approaching the passenger side when an unidentified woman allegedly entered the driver's seat.

Tosta confronted the woman in Spanish, but the suspect began driving away.

In a desperate attempt to stop the theft, Tosta clung to the hood of the van before eventually falling off.

Neighbor Shannon Daniels witnessed the event, observing Tosta's fall and the van's departure.

Concerned for her safety, Daniels pursued the stolen vehicle in his truck.

He reported seeing the suspect abandon the van and flee on foot.

Daniels then secured the vehicle and its keys before contacting law enforcement.

Authorities apprehended the suspect nearby shortly after the incident.

As of now, the individual's identity and the specific charges they may face have not been disclosed.

Detectives are actively investigating the case, with officers examining the recovered white van at the scene.

Tosta and her daughter expressed profound gratitude for Daniels' intervention. "I'm very grateful for him," Tosta stated.

Her daughter added, "I feel frustrated because my mom does her best always and she doesn't deserve this."

Daniels emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "I just think everybody should help out because this is our community, and it's not being a good Samaritan; it's being helpful."
