Special State Session To Convene Today On Illegal Migrants

Governor DeSantis has called for a special session to convene today to address immigration enforcement. He says there are a number of strong measures to be considered.

The legislation calls for the creation of the State Board of Immigration Enforcement. The board members will be the governor, attorney general, CFO and agriculture commissioner.

He says there would be penalties and/or removal from office for mayors and sheriff's who don't follow the law.

Illegal immigrants will be denied in-state tuition rates for colleges and universities. DeSantis says the legislation prevents the catch and release of illegal aliens and ensures they'll be denied bail if they're arrested.

All constitutional power would reside with the Governor, not the Agriculture Commissioner.
