Miami Commissioners taking an initial vote that would allow the city to stop its biweekly recycling collection service. Spokeswoman Kenia Fallat says this comes after a new study shows contamination levels in some areas exceed 70-percent. For example, people are putting pizza boxes with uneaten slices still in them in their recycle bins which defeats the purpose. Instead, residents would be asked to drop their recycling off at the solid waste department. If the commission gives approval today, the legislation will need a final vote.
