LISTEN: Pam Bondi AG Nomination Raises Profile At Alma Mater

GULFPORT, FL -- Students and faculty at the law school that graduated U.S. Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi are looking forward to her Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday. Stetson Law College professor Stephanie Vaughan says the campus went "to the moon" when it became known that President-elect Trump had chosen Bondi to head the Department of Justice.

Vaughan graduated the year after Bondi, and says she was an active part of a much smaller and more intimate group of students on campus, before Stetson Law's "exponential" growth. "We played intramural sports together, we studied together, we actually socialized together... and I remember Pam being involved in all of those things."

Vaughan says Bondi has been a commencement speaker and kept up her ties to the school, speaking before classes and appearing at alumni functions.

The professor says Senators can expect honest answers, delivered with poise and respect, along with the qualities of a "Stetson-trained lawyer," meaning being well-prepared. Vaughan says Bondi, who served as a Hillsborough assistant state attorney and Florida attorney general, is quite at home before a microphone or camera. Bondi served as spokesperson for the State Attorney's Office in Hillsborough County.
