Miami-Dade, FL - An associate of Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was accused of carrying drugs and linked to the music mogul’s legal troubles, is no longer facing charges in Miami-Dade County.
Authorities say 25-year-old Brendan Paul was arrested earlier this year at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport for possessing cocaine and marijuana-laced candy.
The arrest coincided with federal Homeland Security raids on Diddy’s properties in Miami Beach and Los Angeles, drawing significant media attention.
Miami-Dade police initially charged Paul with possession of cocaine and a controlled substance.
However, prosecutors later chose to pursue only the cocaine charge.
On Tuesday, state attorneys dropped the remaining charge after Paul successfully completed a six-month pretrial diversion program.
The diversion program, often available to first-time offenders, required Paul to complete a drug substance abuse course.
Court records confirm that Paul fulfilled all program requirements, leading to the dismissal of his case.
Paul’s attorney, Brian Bieber, released a statement to NBC6, saying: “Mr. Paul’s case was formally dismissed today – in its entirety.”
The timing of Paul’s arrest, paired with the raids on Combs’ properties, led to widespread speculation regarding his role.
While Paul was named in a civil lawsuit as allegedly being involved in transporting drugs and weapons for Diddy, the charges in Miami-Dade County were unrelated to those allegations.
The dismissal concludes Paul’s legal issues stemming from the March arrest, though the broader investigations into Combs’ affairs remain ongoing.
