Wild Attempted Carjacking Outside Broward Health Ends In Arrest

Fort Lauderdale, FL - A woman was arrested after attempting to carjack two vehicles outside Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, leaving one victim with a minor injury.

Authorities report that Fort Lauderdale Police responded to carjacking calls near the hospital entrance around 6:08 p.m. on Wednesday.

The suspect allegedly tried to forcibly remove a couple from their red sedan, which subsequently collided with a pole, causing visible damage to the vehicle.

Hospital security and staff quickly intervened, surrounding the car until law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had attempted to hijack another vehicle in the same area before the incident.

During the struggle, one of the victims sustained a scratch.

The suspect faces a range of charges, including robbery/carjacking, two counts of battery on a person 65 or older, grand theft auto, resisting officers without violence, and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Broward Health issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to safety, stating: “We are aware of an incident involving one of our facilities. The safety of our patients and visitors is a top priority. We are cooperating with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in their investigation.”
