Florida’s Top High Schools: Brevard Schools Shine In National Rankings

Brevard County, FL - Brevard County's West Shore Junior/Senior High School and Edgewood Junior/Senior High School have been recognized among Florida's top high schools.

In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, West Shore Junior/Senior High School in Melbourne secured the 4th position statewide and 43rd nationally, while Edgewood Junior/Senior High School on Merritt Island ranked 7th in Florida and 74th across the nation.

These rankings are based on several performance indicators, including state-required test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness metrics.

Both institutions are part of the Brevard Public Schools system and serve students from grades 7 through 12.

In the 2023-2024 U.S. News & World Report rankings, West Shore Junior/Senior High School secured the 4th position statewide and 43rd nationally, while Edgewood Junior/Senior High School ranked 7th in Florida and 74th across the nation.

West Shore Junior/Senior High School serves approximately 930 students in grades 7 through 12, with a student-teacher ratio of 18:1.

The school boasts a 100% graduation rate and high proficiency levels, with 98% of students achieving proficiency in math and 96% in reading.

Edgewood Junior/Senior High School offers an accelerated curriculum through dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses.

The school emphasizes personalized education, with each student assigned a mentor to guide their academic journey.
